Telemonitoring
Telemonitoring

Innovative solutions in the field of telemonitoring form Aipermon’s core strategy. Aipermon’s telemonitoring systems allow the recording and wireless transmission of vital data on a secure platform so that it can be monitored and assessed. All equipment is set up so that only measurements are taken by the patient. The subsequent data transmission takes place without user interaction.

Innovative and secure telemonitoring platforms open up a wide range of new applications, such as in

* Telemonitoring in medicine
* Prevention and rehabilitation
* Health monitoring for seniors
* Monitoring of physical activity
* Clinical research

AiperCoach Home

The AiperCoach Home system enables the patient to transmit vital data such as blood pressure, physical activity and weight conveniently from home to the doctor, to the hospital or to a telemedical centre. The core item of the system is the Homebox. This small device is plugged into the regular telephone socket at home. Through wireless transfer (via Bluetooth) it receives encrypted measuring data from individual devices and transfers them securely and automatically over the telephone line to the Aipermon Service Center. From the Aipermon Service Center, data is transferred to an electronic patient record or flexibly in a health data base for secure and long-term storage there. The doctor in charge, authorised by the patient, has access to the record at any time. He can continually advise the patient and immediately intervene if deterioration sets in or if there is an emergency.

Depending on requirements and the clinical picture, various measuring devices can be integrated into the AiperCoach Home system, such as scales, blood pressure meters, thermometers, ECG or AiperMotion accelerometer. The transfer from devices to Homebox is via Bluetooth.

The AiperCoach Home System is recommended for home care of the following symptoms, for example:

Cardiac insufficiency
Hypertension
Metabolic syndrome
and other symptoms

AiperCoach Mobile

The AiperCoach Mobile is a mobile system for recording, collecting, transmitting and communicating medically relevant information between the doctor and the patient. It gathers current personal vital data from medical measuring devices such as scales, blood pressure meter or ECG or AiperMotion accelerometer, in a Mobile Medical Assistant (MMA). This is a PDA developed specifically for communication between patients and doctors providing telemedical care. The AiperCoach Mobile enables qualified medical observation and care to be provided at home, outside the home, as well as on travels.

The core item of the AiperCoach Mobile is the Mobile Medical Assistant. This device receives measurements via Bluetooth from individual devices and forwards them automatically and wirelessly to the Aipermon Service Center. From there data can be transferred to the electronic patient record or to other medical databases (e.g. HIS systems).

In addition, the Mobile Medical Assistant is a communication device. It can receive medical recommendations, valuable information, medication or measuring plans. The patient can send the supervising doctor health-relevant information, such as how he is feeling subjectively, information on sleeping patterns, on the intensity of pain or on the effects of medication.

Through the use of the AiperCoach Mobile, continual health monitoring is possible at the highest level, with the least use of time and personnel resources. Emergencies are detected at an early stage. The transparency of therapies is increased. For the first time, the patient is provided with continuous medical care, even outside the doctor’s surgery and the hospital, and is accompanied in his treatment and motivated into taking an active part.

AiperMotion

The AiperMotion is a three-dimensional activity sensor (accelerator) for measuring, recording and motivating everyday activities.

The AiperMotion records the physical movement of the user in everyday situations and records these for 7 days. It generates various evaluations, taking personal values into account (sex, age, weight, size, length of step). The device calculates distances and the motoric calorie consumption from the intensity of movement, and distinguishes between various classes of movement:

Passive (physically motionless state, e.g. lying, sitting, standing, and similar)
Active (movement without walking, e.g. work in the home, office or garden)
Slow walking
Fast walking
Sporting activity (for example walking, Nordic walking or jogging)
The AiperMotion is simply attached to the waistband using the bag supplied, and its weight of approx. 70 g enables it to be used as a daily “movement conscience” which you always have with you. The evaluations show how active the user was in the last 60 minutes, the last four hours, the current day and the other six days of the week. Adjustable predefined values on the device help the patient to set targets and to monitor and motivate himself using the variance analyses in the evaluations.

For supervision of the programme, Aipermon provides a convenient option of data transfer with the AiperCoach Home System.

The AiperView software is available to make evaluations. When integrating the AiperMotion into a telemonitoring system, the user transfers his activity data to the Aipermon Service Center at the push of a button (via Bluetooth). The data is stored there to be retrieved by the programme supervisor. The programme supervisor is connected through the AiperView software to the Aipermon Service Center, and from there he can download all data to his PC. Through the AiperView software, he is provided with convenient evaluations. These can be used both for internal analysis and to generate written responses to the programme participants, sent by mail or e-mail.

As a further variation of the AiperView software, a local PC variant is being developed. This will enable the direct data transfer from AiperMotion devices via USB to the PC.

Areas of application for the AiperMotion:

Medical and scientific observation of physical activity behaviour
Medically guided exercise programmes
Medically guided slimming programmes
Rehabilitation programmes on an outpatient basis
Prevention courses and programmes in which physical movement is involved
This enables

new types of supervision concepts for the chronically ill
knowledge to be acquired about when there are problems
a higher efficiency

Homebox

The Homebox is a small device that automatically transmits data. Connected to the standard home telephone socket, the device can intelligently record data from various medical home measuring devices and forward these to the security server. Scales, blood pressure meters, ECG’s, and the activity sensor AiperMotion developed by Aipermon are connected in this way at present. The Homebox is designed so that brand-name devices from various different manufacturers can be used. The Homebox sends measurements it receives automatically to the Aipermon Service Center. The Aipermon Service Center then forwards the received measurements to the relevant database.

Apart from the devices already available, Aipermon also provides other medical brand-name devices for connection to the Homebox on a project basis. The Homebox is the central technical component of the AiperCoach Home system.

Mobile Medical Assistant

The Mobile Medical Assistant (MMA) is a PDA developed specifically for communication between patients and doctors providing telemedical care.

The MMA receives measurements from telemedically integrated devices such as scales, blood pressure meters, ECG or activity sensors. It forwards these automatically via GPRS or UMTS to the Aipermon Service Center. From there they are forwarded, as with the Homebox, to the relevant database.

The Mobile Medical Assistant can be used as a fully-fledged communication device. Apart from sending data, it can also transmit responses from the medical supervision centre. In this way, medical recommendations, current information or status reports on the current state of health, for example, can be displayed. In addition the patient can send the doctor supervising him health-relevant information, such as how he is feeling subjectively, information on sleeping patterns, on the intensity of pain or on the effects of medication.

The MMA is the central technical component of the AiperCoach Mobile system.
