Company Profile

About us
AntibodyShop A/S is an expanding biotechnology company located in Gentofte (Copenhagen), Denmark, focused on developing a strong and unique portfoilo of diagnostic tests for the critically ill patient.

Based on the acquisition of a wide range of monoclonal antibody-producing cell lines our company has experienced more than 5 years of steady growth. During this period we have established our own R&D programs and important alliances with other academic and industrial partners. We have also consolidated our international distributor network.

MBL Mannan-binding ELISA Kit

Cat.No. KIT 030

Numbers of tests: 96 wells

Assay time: < 4 hours

Result type: Quantitative

Regulatory status:

CE IVD

Clinical significance

Mannan-binding lectin (MBL) is a plasma protein that activates the complement system on binding to invading pathogens, and also has more subtle immunomodulatory effects. Genetically determined MBL deficiency has been shown to be associated with increased susceptibility to infections in conditions such as:

* Immunosuppression

o During cancer chemotherapy

o After organ transplantation

* Immature adaptive immune system

o In early childhood

MBL deficiency is also associated with increased disease severity in:

* Autoimmune diseases

o Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)

o Rheumatoid arthritis

Activation of the complement system

MBL activates complement through its own pathway, the lectin or MBL pathway, one of the three known complement-activating pathways, the other two being the classical and the alternative pathways.

In about 12% of the average population, the circulating level of functional MBL is too low to activate the complement system. Such MBL-deficient individuals may be more susceptible to infections, especially if the adaptive immune system is immature or suppressed, e.g. by cytotoxic drugs.

MBL Mannan-binding ELISA Kit

The MBL mannan-binding ELISA Kit avoid false positive results from hetrophile antibodies by capturing functional MBL molecules on a mannan coat.

Kit features

* Highly reproducible and easy to use

o Ready-to-use calibrators and working solutions

o Pre-coated ELISA strips

o All incubations performed at room temperature

* Measures MBL in both serum and plasma

* Detection range (At the recommended sample dilutions)

o MBL Oligomer ELISA Kit: 50 – 4000 ng/mL

o MBL Mannan-binding ELISA Kit: 50 – 5000 ng/mL

* Easy storage

o All components are stored at 4°C

* ELISA Kits are CE IVD-marked

* Only standard ELISA equipment is required

Properdin ELISA Kit

Cat.No. KIT 033

Numbers of tests: 96 wells

Assay time: 4 hours

Result type: Quantitative

Regulatory status: CE IVD

Background

Properdin determination by ELISA is the direct method of detecting properdin deficiency in patients with:

* Recurrent bacterial meningitis

* Recurrent meningococcal infection

* Suspected immunological deficiencies

Properdin is an important factor in the complement system, essential for the functioning of the alternative pathway of complement activation. Properdin deficiency is associated with a very high susceptibility to meningococcal disease.

In certain categories of patients with meningococcal disease (e.g. family history) the frequency of properdin deficiency is quite high and concurrent deficiency of mannan-binding lectin (MBL) deficiency may put these patients at particularly high risk.

Kit features

* Highly reproducible and easy to use

o Ready-to-use calibrators and working solutions

o Pre-coated ELISA strips

o All incubations performed at room temperature

* Measures properdin in both serum and plasma

* Result is given relative to an international WHO standard in mU/mL

* Easy storage

o All components are stored at 4°C

* The kit is CE IVD-marked

* Requires only standard ELISA equipment
