SciCan Overview
SciCan Ltd. is a major manufacturer and distributor of products in the healthcare industry, where the SciCan name has become well known for its proven innovation, high quality and dependability.

SciCan was formed in 1957 by Arno Zwingenberger to introduce successful European podiatry products into the Canadian marketplace. These medical products laid a solid foundation for SciCan’s success.

In the late 1980’s an R&D department was established by Arthur Zwingenberger to create a fast, compact autoclave. The result of this initiative, the Statim Cassette Autoclave, was released to the Canadian market in 1990. Statim was released in Europe in 1991 and then shortly thereafter into the United States via the newly created Pittsburgh-based subsidiary, SciCan Inc..

While the initial focus of the company was the Canadian healthcare market, SciCan’s current business includes dental and medical markets throughout the world. To this end, the company has sales representation and distribution in Europe, Central and South America, Africa, the Indian subcontinent, Australasia, the Middle East, Japan, Eastern Europe and Russia, and most recently, China.

SciCan’s current headquarters and manufacturing facility in Toronto, Canada, provides a base of operation for more than 400 dedicated and talented employees operating worldwide.

In addition to the 5,400 medical and dental products, SciCan provides total support and technical service for all products sold. In fact, SciCan’s R&D and Technical Service departments form one of the largest of any Canadian manufacturer in its marketplace. SciCan’s subsidiary operations are located in the United States in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Zug, Switzerland, and most recently in Gersthofen, Germany.

Quantim B + Quantim B2 18.09.2007

Quantim B2 - the improved vacuum autoclave
The new Quantim B2 autoclave has been re-designed to offer many benefits to those larger, busy dental practices which need to process high volumes of wrapped or pouched instruments. Technical and design enhancements have produced more reliable sterilisation cycles but perhaps the most important improvement has been made to the process B cycle time. With modified airflow and cooling systems, a wide variety of loads can now be sterilized and delivered dry in less than fifty minutes. Available in either 16 or 22 litre capacities, the Quantim B is an ideal partner for the bench-top Statim 2000 S-cycle cassette autoclave. The Statim will sterilise your handpieces between patients in only 8 minutes, which improves clinical efficiency and reduces your investment in handpieces.

Quantim B complies with new Standards
The removal of air has long been recognised as critical to achieving sterilisation because air can act as a barrier to the sterilising steam. In fact, unless the autoclave can evacuate air from inside hollow, or wrapped, instruments before sterilisation begins, they would not necessarily be sterilised. This ‘pre-evacuation’ and sterilisation can only be assured in a validated B or S-cycle autoclave. The new European Standard EN13060 recognises that there is more than one way to achieve the removal of air. The reliable action of the Quantim B cycle displaces air from the sterilisation chamber by a triple vacuum pulse which ensures safe and effective sterilisation of all dental instruments. The Quantim B also has a highly efficient automatic or manual drying cycle.

Statim 2000 18.09.2007

The Statim 2000 is a reliable cassette sterilizer that’s compact enough to fit in patient treatment areas and fast enough to sterilize expensive Lasik, PRK, endoscopic and cataract instruments, including phaco handpieces, between procedures - it can complete an unwrapped sterilization cycle in just six minutes and a wrapped cycle in 14 minutes.*

The Statim 2000 is fully automatic. Simply select one of the three sterilization programs and with a single touch of the keypad, begin the cycle. An advanced microprocessor controls all functions and maintains optimal sterilization conditions, from start to finish.

SciCan’s Statim cassette sterilizers have a biological effectiveness that has been proven in tests for hollow and solid instruments at many internationally recognized institutes in Canada, the United States and Europe.

Statim 5000 18.09.2007

Larger than the 2000, the Statim 5000 has an additional sterilization cycle and a roomier cassette designed to process bulkier instruments and greater loads. It’s a reliable cassette sterilizer that’s compact enough to fit in patient treatment areas and fast enough to sterilize expensive Lasik, PRK, endoscopic and cataract instruments, including phaco handpieces, between procedures - it can complete an unwrapped sterilization cycle in just nine minutes and a wrapped cycle in just 17.5 minutes.*

The Statim 5000 is fully automatic. Simply select one of four sterilization programs and with a single touch of the keypad, begin the cycle.
